What We Do
Our mission is to enrich Canadian environmental leaders and nonprofit organizations through programs, services and support that help them increase their capacity to lead, manage and strategize. The Sustainability Network works with environmental non-profits to make them more effective and efficient. By improving management and leadership skills and fostering organizational development, we help to strengthen the environmental community. We are about sustaining the organizations that work on sustainability.
Our Programs:
Sustainability Network Digest
Our capacity building monthly e-newsletter distributed to Canada's environmental nonprofit community. The digest is currently offered in four regions (Atlantic Canada, Ontario, the Prairies and Alberta). Our newsletter includes: Sustainability Network events, regional trainings and workshops, as well as articles and repots, which can be requested from us for free.
Public Forums
We host public forums in Toronto to bring together the ENGO community. Speakers have included: Michael Adams, Robert F. Kennedy Jr., Elizabeth May.
Training Workshops
Sustainability Network organizes all-day, customized workshops to help leaders of environmental nonprofits develop their management skills. Session topics cover the scope on nonprofit managed issues ranging from fundraising to project management and from communications to collaboration.
Learning Networks
Regional or subsector ENGO leaders are brought together three times over two years for three-day residential retreats to receive advanced organizational training, learn from their peers and explore boarder issues facing the sector.
Environment and Diversity Project
This is a four-year collaborative initiative designed to help the Ontario environmental NGO community consider, develop and implement strategies to better reflect and engage under-represented communities.
