13. Green 2.0's Latest Report Shows Some Progress in Diversity Among Transparent Environmental Organizations

For the fourth year in a row, Green 2.0—an independent advocacy campaign to increase racial and ethnic diversity within the mainstream environmental movement—presents diversity data from the movement’s most influential non-profit organizations and foundations. The 2020 Green 2.0 Transparency Report Card reflects data collected from the 40 largest NGOs and 40 largest foundations on the number of women and people of colour on their full-time staffs, senior staffs, and boards. 14. Venngage's 2021 Benchmark Report on Data Storytelling

Data storytelling has been a key narrative device in marketing and sales since 2004. But what is data storytelling? In short, data storytelling is a way to bring data to life. Venngage asked 338 marketers how data impacts their organization’s marketing goals, how they use data, and their personal opinions on data storytelling. The organization also looked into its own user data. Looking at the creation and design habits of their almost 40,000 active users who identify as a marketer, Venngage was able to understand the types of data visualizations marketers were creating on a regular basis, and what their purpose was. The information gathered in this benchmark report is fascinating, and we know that data storytelling will continue to be an important marketing tool for years to come.

The combined damage amounted to $60 million less in donations. This report analyzes some sharp divergences within the charitable sector, with some organizations seeing increased contributions and others getting nothing. Organizations that had a virtual presence were able to adapt and fare better.

16. Report from the Johnston Centre on Not-for-Profit Board Diversity & Inclusion: Is it essentially window dressing?

A provocative new discussion paper just published by Matt Fullbrook and Robin Cardozo, interviews 26 thoughtful leaders in the not-for-profit sector. This report seeks to go beyond the 'numbers' of board diversity, to ask, 'is it really making a difference?', and 'what is needed on the journey to successful inclusion at the boardroom table?" The objective of this paper is to stimulate discussion on how board diversity in the Not-for-Profit sector can go far beyond the optics, and can contribute to strengthening all aspects of governance.

The Johnston Centre will host a free webinar on February 10th, with Matt Fullbrook, Robin Cardozo and guests talking about the study. You can register here.
